Behavioral Interventions

The Best Friends Forever Project is designed to empower African American females ages 14-18 who reside in Copiah, Hinds Madison, Rankin, and Simpson counties around topics such as self-pride, communication skills, HIV, and healthy relationships.  BFF offers a $35.00 participation incentive and is conducted year round.  The sessions are conducted at Open Arms Healthcare Center, but can be reserved for small groups who are interested in improving the health of African American females, ages 14-18.  For more information please contact spalmer@mbk-inc.org.

The HIM Project aims to promote condom use, prevent HIV/AIDS and other STDs, address stigma and encourage holistic health among African American MSM men who have sex with men (MSM) ages 18 and older in the Jackson, MS Metropolitan area (Rankin, Hinds, Simpson, Copiah and Madison counties).  HIM offers a $50.00 participation incentive and is conducted year round. The sessions are conducted at Open Arms Healthcare Center, but can be reserved for small groups who are interested in improving the health of African American men who have sex with men (MSM) ages 18 and older.  For more information please contact ggibson@mbk-inc.org.

Project S. H. I. E. L. D. targets high-risk negative African American men who have sex with men (MSM), ages 18-29 and their partners in the Jackson, MS metropolitan area.  Project S.H.I.E.L.D aims to educate participants on the reduction of  risky sexual behaviors, prevention of HIV and STDs and to improve the overall health status of  African American MSM.  S.H.I.E.L.D offers a $75.00 participation incentive and is conducted year round. The sessions are conducted at Open Arms Healthcare Center, but can be reserved for small groups who are interested in improving the health of African American men who have sex with men (MSM), ages 18-29 and their partners.  For more information please contact dmcdonald@mbk-inc.org.
